This album is a little more of a grower than I was anticipating. I think the production and sounds are instantly memorable, but the vocal melodies were taking a while to work their way into my head, but it's starting to click for me. Love those guitar sounds and riff on "Prisoner".
I do hear a Bruce vibe on "Haunted House" and "Outbound Train". He may even be trying to emulate the Boss's vocals on the train song.

No one believed me when I said it was a grower! NO ONE!

Listening to the album now. So far reminds me of a mix of Easy Tiger and the last album, but even more '80s production touches. He's definitely doing some Springsteen voice on a lot of these tracks.
Have at me bro.

Anyone know why this album is dedicated to Garry Shandling? I know he died recently, but were he and Ryan close?

Do You Still Love Me certainly takes some ques from this not so masterpiece. But hey, it worksBeldo wrote:This album really has some strange production going on, but in a good way. It almost sounds like some not quite lo-fi but certainly lower budget band trying to recreate the expensive '80s production of the day but ending up getting something else entirely.

Sup dudes? I haven't digested this album yet, but I had to drive to Boston yesterday in rush hour traffic so I finally listened to the Maron interview. Beldo gave an excellent summary of it. Adams still comes off, at least to me, as 42 going on 22. He's so goofy that sometimes I have a hard time taking him seriously. Maybe I've just dated too many man-boys like him. I do sympathize with him having Ménière's disease - my mom had it and she had terrible vertigo followed by vomiting episodes. She managed it with anti-nausea drugs and some valium. Valium rocks.

Aimz, great to see you post. Me and my bros are going to see the red hot B's tomorrow at the TD Garden, mind if we crash on your futon?

I think once you've banged Mandy Moore, every album you write from then on will in some way revolve around banging Mandy Moore.

Mandy Moore needs to leave a trail of more artists in her wake to inspire some more great albums. Needs to break up with the Dawes dude ASAP and we can get an Eagles style divorce album.
