Patrick Sweany - Ancient Noise
Release Date: May 11, 2018

'Ancient Noise' was recorded at Sam C. Phillips Recording Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. This great album was produced, engineered and mixed by Matt Ross-Spang who also plays on the album (mellotron on "Cry Of Amédé" and moog on "Get Along"). The musicianship is outstanding. Ex-Wilco drummer Ken Coomer, bassist Ted Pecchio (Chris Robinson Band, Susan Tedeschi) and famed Al Green keyboardist Charles Hodges play on the album. Crank up the volume and listen to that ancient noise coming from that famed studio. Patrick Sweany's vocals and guitar complements Hodges' piano and B3 organ.

"Cry Of Amédé" is about Amédé Ardoin, a pioneering Creole accordionist who was among the earliest musicians to record "la la" music. He carried a lemon in his pocket to keep his voice strong and clear. Sadly, he was beaten and left for dead in the countryside in 1934 for accepting a handkerchief from a white woman.
