One of my favorite lines of tonight was...
"What are you doing dude? He surrendered."
"I didn't believe him."

Yeah, you need to quit slacking and watch the rest of the season. Your boy Terry O'Quinn won an Emmy for those great, great episodes of his in the latter half.

Really? Hmmm maybe I should check out those last episodes. I just don't think I can stand the rest of those pricks on the island anymore though. Hehe.

I think there was a compliment in there so thanks...but to answer your question, yes I'm a writer and a poet but that doesn't mean I have to be all writerly and literary all the time...I have a deep, deep love for sci-fi (the first things I ever wrote back in the teen years were sci-fi stories...maybe I'll post them sometime) and for comic books and LOST is basically a sci-fi/comic show. In fact, one of my favorite comicbook writers, Brian K Vaugan, is a writer on LOST. Yes the plot is contrived as hell and constantly twisting and turning, which usually makes my stomach want to do the same, but somehow this show doesn't do that to me. I think it's because of the good writing...on top of the bizarre story arc there is good character definition and dialogue (some bad stuff too, I'll admit). The show is done in such a way that I'm willing, week in and week out, to suspend my disbelief for an hour. The show has a quality that is unbelievably believable, where it's close enough to reality to suck you in, but far enough away to be fantastical. I love that. It's the same as reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Jonathan Safran Foer or any good comicbook...it's this idea of "magical realism" where the story takes place in the same reality that you live in, but slightly twisted. That's good stuff to me.HeWhoEatsPizza wrote:Look, I respect you all. Except for a few of you - you know who you are..

Good stuff. We should trade stories sometime...me and Blaise have traded a few in the past. Jeph Loeb, who also writes for LOST, wrote some great Batman stuff in the 90s.jackattack wrote:I think there was a compliment in there so thanks...but to answer your question, yes I'm a writer and a poet but that doesn't mean I have to be all writerly and literary all the time...I have a deep, deep love for sci-fi (the first things I ever wrote back in the teen years were sci-fi stories...maybe I'll post them sometime) and for comic books and LOST is basically a sci-fi/comic show. Re: Lost Season 4 Thread
A prime example is the flash of Jack helping those people after the accident. The lady I think... Anyway he's getting bandaged up and the nurse says something about how the press wants to talk to him and hes all "Goll-dang-it" with his look. So there is the very bad cliche of the hero who doesnt seek attention.. the lone hero.. plus hes all some "bad Jack" quest.. what does one do when they escape the realities of their lives? Why yes, they grow facial hair.
I only watched about 5 minutes of the show.. and thats what I caught. I could make a nice list if you would like me to review the premiere tonight. If it is for the betterment of our online society then i will do it.
Sayid is as bad as i remember him also. dont believe him at all. bad acting imo. just a bunch of pretty prime time faces.
this is just my opinion.

But don't you think part of the point of the show is taking these archetype characters and turning them on their ear?HeWhoEatsPizza wrote:A prime example is the flash of Jack helping those people after the accident.
