I liked Jonny's "Wander this World" album quite a bit.JesseAaron wrote:Johnny Lang could totally kick Kenny's ass.
Hey....my gritty young brash blues guitarist is better than your gritty young brash blues guitarist!!
I saw Jonny in concert at the Ryman a few years ago...damn good performer, I might add.
You're right, though, there were a TON of young blues "prodigies" coming out around the same time. Kenny and Jonny were the ones that hit it big but there was another guy, "Monster" Mike Welch, who many think was a better guitar player than either of them. I always put Derek Trucks (now with the Allmans) in the same category too.
They are all a bit derivitive of their influences:
Kenny = SRV
Jonny = Albert Collins
Derek = Duane Allman
Again, pretty good stuff to me (particularly during a blues phase I went through a few years ago), but not great.
