Much prefer my 30's to my late 20's. When you're 29, every single person you meet says, "Oh, the big 3-0 is right around the corner!" It makes you want to kill yourself. When you're 30, nobody says anything.

eh, turning 30 was no biggie. only thing I have to say about getting older though is, to quote the great prophet Bocephus, "Hangovers hurt more than they used to"

To the point I don't even care to drink anymore.

Abover - true about hangovers. they hurt. But only when heavy drinking occurs. Used be able to do that shit nightly - now - one time is a problem. But the sauce still suits me - just at a more moderate level.

Turning 30 bothered me. After it wore off, 30s aint so bad. In general, I am not a birthday guy. I don't need to be reminded on my oncoming frailty.

But - Happy Birthday anyway Feelgone!

I´m 38 but look 30 and feel like I´m 60. Fibermialgya sucks. Anyway I´m happier than I ever was, life only gets better anyway aging has never bothered me. Though I´m not happy about my waist growing an inch when I quit smoking. I used to be a 30 and now I´m 31. Fuck that!

30's rules. Old enough to be respected at a business meeting and young enough where you can still go out once in a while without being the weird old guy drinking whiskey on a weeknight. Agree with Moby, there's a sense of perspective in the 30's... settled down yet oddly free. I think starting to become your Dad plays a part in that too. Tooling around the yard on a Saturday morning, mowing the lawn, enjoying a pabst, grilling a steak. It's all good.
The contribution phase is coming to an end.

anybody else seen their tastes in food change dramatically in their 30s??

I can't stomach greasy or super sweet foods anymore. i therefore can't eat regular fast foods (McD's, BK, Wendies, KFC, Taco Hell, etc), and i've all but given up drinking sodas. can only handled about 2-3 drinks of soda before my stomach starts turning and that includes most diet sodas. On the opposite end, i find i really enjoy fresh foods a lot more...fresh veggies are my favorites and i even enjoy vegetarian dinners now a days.

i am i just turning into a wuss or do others have similar experiences.

although i must admit to still loving Kraft mac and cheese, the kind with the neon yellow, powdered cheese substance that you mix with the noodles.

Happy B-Day!

I agree with a lot of folks (TBS, Norts, Moby...) My 30's have been outstanding. More comfortable in my own skin, smile a bit more (still not enough), have some money to buy a six pack of good beer when I want it, my new little boy, a great wife. Look forward to growing older, too. Yes, stretch, swim, ski, try and stay active. Thank you, Lord, for everything. Good and the bad. Life is good. Life is good.

To help keep a positive perspective, my current driving in traffic mantra is, "Have you appreciated your life? Or did you spend it worrying about things that didn't matter?"
Eh, it's the little things.

I have found I really love "pungent" and savory flavors of late. Things like bleu cheese, olives and vinegar. I used to hate that stuff.

Crikey. I'm 45 and didn't freak about 3-0 or 4-0. Then again I'm a weirdo never been married no kids never had a career path , or any money other than what I earned the week before. I should be freaking out I guess.
The body does protest but the best way to shut it up is not do any strenuous exercise. Ten minutes stretching in the morning and 50 push-ups goes a loooooong way if you eat right and don't binge on alcohol. Don't neglect the shoulders and neck, this is key both for avoiding stupid injuries and attracting women, who will forgive a small middle age spread if you got strong shoulders . You ,in turn, will forgive them a lot.

The hardest part about turning 30 is realizing you're not young anymore and never will be again

Thiis is the thread where I will quote alt.mobius in every reply. Taste change: yes! This has to do w/ at least two things. First, I'm much more sensitive to the fact that I have to, actually, you know, take care of my body. I'm conscious now of things like blood pressure, cholesterol, fat, skin diseases, gout, rabies, and other ailments, whereas up until I turned 30 I was INVINCIBLE. Second, I've got some years of eating under my belt so I know how much good, fresh food is out there. Once I stretched my horizons beyond Chef Boyardee, I couldn't go back. I'm no "foodie" like Noodle (RIP), but I enjoy a well-prepared meal.

I eat fast food about twice a year. I will always have a sweet tooth, but I keep it under control.

I cried my entire 30th birthday. Like Aimz says, it's a big milestone that forces you to look at your life and realize it's not what you thought it would be. I'm over it now, but i suspect I'll cry on my 31st. ;)

Reaching 30 sucks. I lied and told people I was 29 for a solid year.

40 sucks too. The only good thing is less people expect you to help them move heavy furniture.

I will forever be 15 in my mind. Anybody got a good fart joke?

I just turned 30 in January. I don't care - feel the same as I did when I was 29. That's all I have to contribute. The End.

Yeah, but it took this thread for you to admit it. Hmmmm.
