Like most of these lists, it mixes up Americana and Alt. Country. IMO, there is a difference, i.e. Americana is what OJ likes, Alt. Country is what the rest of us like.

It was over produced, radio ready and sounds a bit dated these days..... But its fantastic. And in the Summer of '98, it spent some decent time stuck in my CD player...Kizmiaz wrote:You're not missing anything IMOBlaze wrote:I still have never heard "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road"

I posted this and one of our town crazies (old, former hot guy who rigged his old station wagon to run on cooking oil and used to own a record store) keeps adding his own picks to the list.

I actually went to buy Chris Knight tickets a moment ago and they were thirty four fucking dollars. Thirty, four! I also was considering the Squirrel Nut Zippers reunion gig which is here in town and again....34 fucking dollars.
I was like damn, "americana" done reached a new tax bracket.

yeah I agree, I just never imagined his songs resonating with folks who could drop 34 bucks for concert tickets.

Re: Paste - The 50 Best Alt-Country Albums of All Time
Prices as a whole for events are going up, I think. I've been going to the Long Beach Folk Revival Festival for the past couple of years, but this year they priced me out. 1st year the headliner was some no name and it was $20 a ticket. Last year it was Deer Tick and I think they went up to $25. This year it's The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and now $40. Say whaaaaaaaaaaaat?
