Petty seeing Petty. You should get a backstage pass for that alone, Joe Walsh is opening the show you will attend. We get The Lumineers. Two years ago when I saw him, Stevie Winwood opened. It was a great night and one hell of a show.

Memorial Day weekend will find me in Napa at the Bottle Rockets festival. Petty, Band of Horses, Foo Fighters, should be fun.

Spoon seems to be doing some kind of secondary city tour and they're actually coming to Baton Rouge (baffling) at the end of April. Will be purchasing tickets regardless of how many millennials I may need to murder while I'm at the show.

I've got tickets to see them in Oxford. Looking forward to that one.

Guns'n'Roses at Slane Castle on the 27th. Am I nuts? I never even liked GnR much first time round. Mark Lanegan is supporting.

Just got back from the BottleRock festival in Napa. (Foo Fighters closed and absolutely killed it.) Some observations:

- Festival girl was out in full force. Oh, to be 25 years younger.
- The quality of weed in Northern Cali festivals is apparently pretty darn high. (From what I could ascertain from the smelling.)
- Seriously, sideboob like you dreamt about as a horny fourteen year old, and apparently bras aren't worn north of Santa Barbara or so.
- "BottleRock" is an apt description. Wine garden, beer garden, whiskey garden, tequila booth, vodka booth, and more individual booths from local vineyards than I could be bothered to count. Lots of people "napping" face down on the grass as the day went on.
- The food booths were insane - everything from Masaharo Morimoto making mashup Japanese / American fare (burgers and fries with Japanese sauces and condiments) to killer tacos, Malaysian fried rice, Indian street food, bao (steamed Taimanese pork buns), wood-fired pizzas, etc. So good. The pork belly bao were my favorite.
- Cool cooking demonstrations on the stage in the Culinary Gardens. I saw the Voltaggio brothers (kind of dumb, making cocktails), Chris Cosentino (pine cone smoked duck, foie gras sandwich - pretty cool), and Hubert Keller (fucking legend, amazing show, octopus salad with hearts of palm, caviar limes, sea beans, and micro greens)
- To the drunk couple who decided to have a loud argument two feet in front of me: Would it kill you to involve some back story? Makes it a lot easier to follow. Thanks.
- Even though it was NorCal, I saw fourteen people wearing Dodgers gear compared to four wearing Giants gear. Which makes sense, when you take into account that the Giants suck.
- To the young lady in the sundress (and no bra, see bullet point three) who decided to disrobe to the waist and dance around: You just keep doing what you feel.
- I've never had much time for Band of Horses, but I have to admit the right way to experience them is on a blanket, on the grass, in Napa, in the sun, with wafts of pungent smoke drifting by. Quite soothing, it turns out.
- To the gentleman in the Warriors jersey who was fifteen feet outside of the men's room but at least FACING its general direction while peeing in a puddle: Sir, you have obviously found your true north. Now it is time to follow your star, not stand back and piss away from afar.
- Fuck you, OJ, for letting Taney back.

Oxford show was awful...I mean, Spoon was good but the crowd was just terrible. We left about halfway through. Drunken college kids puking and stumbling around, talking through the whole thing. The whole city of Oxford, I think, is just about the worst place on Earth. The people there just suck and really ruined the show.

For the life of me, I can't understand why any band would play Oxford.
