Anybody else catch Centro's last hurrah? They came through Chicago on a Monday. I was worried about this being a powerdown, but Schuba's was filled to the gills and folks were excited. Centro was in great spirits and bounced all over their catalog. I brought a complete newbie to the show; she spent the train ride home bitching about the fact that they're breaking up. She seemed most taken by how the band never seemed to mail a note in. They were invested in every song even though...I mean, how many times have they played Mighty Midshipman? That was good to hear from a newbie because after seeing them several times I take the intensity for granted a bit.
I threatened Hedman on Twitter that I would open their show with an interpretive dance rendition of the 1919 Black Sox Scandal. Hedman offered me floor space. Good guys.

I saw the first night of the tour in Dallas. It was really good. They dusted off a bunch of old stuff, including "Members Of The Show Them How It's Done," which they said they had never played live before and that if it were a person it would be in 8th grade now.
I think I'm still kind of in denial that they're no longer a thing.

Here's the setlist from Boston (photo by local blog Bradley's Almanac). It was a killer show.

I don't have a great memory of the Chicago set list but it was quite different, and I'm 90% that Pence was still handwriting it after they took the stage. Johnson joked about not knowing how to play the songs they were dusting off.
