Re: Replacements Tour
Yeah, saw that list. Looks awesome! I'm seeing them in Denver next week. It will be the first show I've ever gone to alone, and I don't care one bit. In fact, I'd much rather go alone than with someone who's not a real fan.
I wish I could take one of my kids, but they're only 6 & 8. They both love "Take Me Down to the Hospital" for some reason.

I've probably been to more shows alone than with friends.
No worrying about whether they are having fun, are too drunk, or not drunk enough.
You will be surrounded by a room full of new friends anyways!
There's something liberating about seeing a show alone.
Enjoy!

Re: Replacements Tour
I saw the Mats on Friday in DC, great show, they played a bunch of songs from Hootenanny, which was great, along with a weird cover - My Boy Lollipop, some song I'd never heard of - according to the internet it's "Watering Can Song", "Whole Foods Blues," which I guess was new and was not all that great, and Kissing in Action, which is not a spectacular Mats b-side in my opinion. They were really tight and Paul only forgot the words once (during Skyway).
Honestly though the show will be forever marred by the fact that the audience I was with were some of the biggest cockbags I have ever encountered. Tons of fights, and even more examples of people just being inconsiderate dicks. My wife and I moved out of the way after like the 3rd fight where I had to shove someone who was acting like an idiot, she's 6 months pregnant and I'm not having that. I ended up watching most of the show with an obstructed view and we actually left during the last song of the encore (IOU) because I didn't want to try walking out with these inconsiderate pieces of shit. Seriously the 2nd worst audience to a show I've ever seen, and easily the worst of any show where I was a willing attendee. Mats were great though.

Re: Replacements Tour
Yeah I heard that the crowds were rough at some of these shows. Not sure what it is? Bunch of 40 year olds trying to relive their glory days and getting upset with a little shoving and crowding? Add alcohol in the mix and there you go.Tuxedo T-shirt wrote:I saw the Mats on Friday in DC, great show, they played a bunch of songs from Hootenanny, which was great, along with a weird cover - My Boy Lollipop, some song I'd never heard of - according to the internet it's "Watering Can Song", "Whole Foods Blues," which I guess was new and was not all that great, and Kissing in Action, which is not a spectacular Mats b-side in my opinion. Re: Replacements Tour
^ No, I don't think that's it. I did have to tell the Replacements to keep it down a few times, and what was this shit about playing til after 10 PM? I had to pick up mulch at Home Depot first thing on Saturday morning. We're not all "rock stars" Mr. Paul Westerman. Anyway, I'm not getting old.
