Richard Buckner - Little Rock July 7, 2016
I arrived late - and quickly realized I was disappointed I haven't had a chance to see him after all these years. There was about 15 people there. He sounded fantastic and he looked great. Played a lot off of Bloomed, Devotion and Doubt and a few off of Meadow.
It ended awkwardly - he said he had a couple of songs left. Some guy in the audience asked if he was taking requests. Buck said if I remember so the guy asked for Town off of Meadow. Buck said he didn't remember that one. The guy insisted Town off of Meadow but Buck said he didn't know about Meadow and said thank you good night. It was a weird ending.
Buckner sounds great and looks great. I was sorry the show ended abruptly.

That is strange...wonder if he as some sort of aversion to playing that particular song? If Melt goes tonight, he should definitely yell for it Freebird-style.

i have seen richard buckner six or seven times (maybe more) and he is always great, each time i have spoken with him he is kind and generous with his time, he does sometimes let something get under his skin and then doesn't seem to be able to move on, at one show he was promised a different stage than the one they put him on, and he packed up his stuff and left, without playing one song. oh and don't ask him to play mud

Yeah - as he was packing up the dude went up to the stage with what was obviously the lyrics to the song on his smartphone and was showing them to him. Buck was just like - man come on. He clearly wanted to GTFO.

Crowd guy sounds a little nutty. Not sure where these people get off.

That's a pretty odd ending. I've seen him storm off the stage before. I've seen him get annoyed at sound guys. There's always something a little awkward about his shows. But like 3leg said, anytime I've spoken to him he's a super sweet guy.

I like when Nacho and I saw him drink a bottle of red during his set (while the loops were playing). Never know what you're gonna get with that guy, as long as he keeps making albums I'm good with whatever.

Speaking of which, I read an interview with him the other day where he said he has the songs written and basically is ready to make an album, but he can't afford to make the one he wants to. Sad.

WTF? Is he insisting on an orchestra or something? I thought these days you can make a pretty sophisticated album on a cell phone.melt wrote:Speaking of which, I read an interview with him the other day where he said he has the songs written and basically is ready to make an album, but he can't afford to make the one he wants to. Has he thought of asking fans for contributions? I hear that always goes well.

My hunch is he probably wants to record with a band and a real producer again. Can't Merge throw some of that Arcade Fire money his way to get this thing done?

I must have been drinking pretty hard too cause I don't remember much from that night. Did you walk me to my door?TravelbySea wrote:I like when Nacho and I saw him drink a bottle of red during his set (while the loops were playing). Re: Richard Buckner - Little Rock July 7, 2016
I've only seen him once and it was 4 days after "Meadow" was released in September 2006. He played the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. Buckner was fighting a cold on that night, but the show was still great. He hadn't been in Toronto for a while.
For now, at least he's touring, but you do need to start thinking of a new album because you can only tour so much without having newer material.
