No idea if that show will be good but I can say The Walkmen were incredible live and he brought tons of energyMacho wrote:Spotify told me Hamilton Leithauser is coming into town, so I grabbed a ticket. January 25th. Hopefully it's coolio.

Re: Ticket To Ride - 2017
I went to a Walkmen show with a friend who gave me a ticket. I was a casual fan, but left that show blown away. Hamilton was one of the best singers I'd ever seen live, and the band was just so tight and GOOD. No theatrics, not much stage banter, but to this day it was an all-time show for me. That show was the first time they played Juveniles live, and it was just so, so good. And the Rat? Come on. That's a top 10 all time indie classic.Beldo wrote:No idea if that show will be good but I can say The Walkmen were incredible live and he brought tons of energyMacho wrote:Spotify told me Hamilton Leithauser is coming into town, so I grabbed a ticket. ^I had the same experience. Had always liked their albums but not sure I'd ever been blown away. I came away from that show thinking they're the most underrated band going. Songs I'd previously written off suddenly became my favorites, particularly In The New Year and Lost In Boston. But yeah, the drummer on Rat? Literally convinced my friend who came with me (and didn't know the band at all) to pick up drumming. They left nothing on the stage.

Yes, I left my show with a new love for In the New Year. I'd always kinda liked it, but after that, I fell in love with it.
Weirdly, they had like a professional whistling choir (group?) that whistled the melody/guitar part of Juveniles. It gave it kind of an Irish feel, and it was one of the best versions of any song I'd ever heard. I've looked a few times for a YouTube of it, but I've never found one. This was a little before the whole world filmed every second of everything.
So yeah Macho, you should have a good time.

Going to see Lydia Loveless tonight at an in store. If I dig it, I might go see her play tonight. I'm taking my kids, so I'm not expecting to get to do too much actual listening.

I was gonna go see RA next month in New Orleans but it's on a goddamn Tuesday (I live an hour away now). Not doable.

Got tickets for Tom Petty in May. Super excited about that one.
I sold my guitar to the girl next door
She asked me if I knew how
I told her, "I don't think so, anymore"
