Buddy Guy’s The Blues Don’t Lie was released on September 30, 2022, the 65th anniversary of the day Guy arrived in Chicago from Louisiana.
Damn, does the 86-year-old Blues Legend ever have mojo on his 34th studio album, produced by longtime collaborator Tom Hambridge. The fantastic album follows Guy’s 2018 Grammy winning album The Blues Is Alive And Well.
The Blues Don’t Lie features Mavis Staples on We Go Back, Elvis Costello on Symptoms of Love, James Taylor on Follow The Money, Bobby Rush on What’s Wrong With That, Jason Isbell on Gunsmoke Blues, Wendy Moten on House Party, and Buddy’s signature blonde strat and blue polka dot strat on Side A, B, C, and D.
The album includes three covers; BB King’s 1967 Sweet Thing, The Beatles’ 1970 I’ve Got a Feeling, and James Moore’s 1957 I’m a King Bee.
