Yeah, "Capitol City", forgot about that one. Don't get the hate on that one either. Love the lyrics. "Breath in that country air" is one of the better moments on the album.

Love that they sampled Iggy singing "brother!" from TV Eye on "I Might." Whitest use of a sample ever?

I still contend that "Down With Wilco" is their best album to come out after YHF. They had an album named after them before they had an album named after them too!

It's a fine album but I wouldn't call it a Wilco album anymore than I'd call Mirrorball a Pearl Jam album.

Mirrorball is pretty sweet though. Imma break that one out tonight. "Downtown", "Peace and Love", "Act of Love" = good times.

I'd agree that it's a fine album as well. It's definitely a great McLachlan retrospective for the uninitiated, but what does that have to do with Pearl Jam?

Although I'm a fan of Both Wilco and the Young Fresh Fellows I think the down with Wilco album is very lame.. I think when it came out Wilco were at their peak and people wanted to pretend it was good but it's really a Scott McCaughey album and like most of his recent stuff it sucks pretty bad.

I think I agree with that. It doesn't sound much like Wilco though.

Good to see some Down with Wilco love. I think it's way underrated.

This contrarian act you guys are pulling is cute, but it won't fool me.

It's funny how times change. When Down with Wilco first came out I remember saying here I didn't think it sounded like Wilco and it really wasn't a Wilco album and subsquently got ripped a new asshole by about 10 other people who said it sounded exactly like Wilco, without a single person agreeing with me.

I don't remember anything from that record except "The Family Gardener", that was a good tune.

I think Loose Fur "Born Again In The USA" is a better record if we're making crude comparisons of Tweedy side-projects (which I am). It probably helps I like Jim O'Rourke much better than Scott McCaughey though

Allmusic gives Down With Wilco 4.5 stars (the same rating as Being There  ), chogs I think you are onto something:

maybe a re-listen is in order though

When it came out I remember a lot of folks on the board saying it was the like bridge between "Summerteeth" and "YHF".
