Re: Greatest Covers
I don't know if this is technically a cover but the interpretation blew my mind.

Re: Greatest Covers
This one came up on shuffle today, and it is one that I definitely find to be MUCH BETTER than the original. I was thinking about starting a new thread about covers that exceed the original performance, but said fuck it.

Can't believe no one mentioned this one:

Re: Greatest Covers
My first post - long time lurker though - so hello, don't eat me for breakfast!
Someone else mentioned Husker Du - Eight Miles High - fabulous!
But this is good too....
And so is this, which I was lucky enough to see live at Newcastle Riverside on one of their few UK gigs.

Re: Greatest Covers
My favourite two cover versions are Jimi Hendrix's cover of All Along The Watchtower, and Aretha Franklin's cover of RESPECT.
Velvet Crush cover Gene Clark's Why Not Your Baby
Mark Lanegan's take on Willie's She's Not For You
The Fall's wonderful version of Sister Sledge's Lost In Music
