I do, but I rarely post there anymore. Too much grab-ass betwixt the regulars, and not the usually endearing kind we have here. Heh.

wayne vogt i just saw your question about the farrar board. there's a lot of strangeness going on over there. i guess all artist sites are like that, but the JF board is really hard to take in more than limited doses. that was my first message board but i was gone shortly after i started there. the above-quoted HPD, who's a fine fellow, seems to lurk there regularly too.
Hmmm...I LOVE JF and have hit that site only a couple times more so when he was getting ready to release Omekah. I do however waste the majority of my day at the Lucero message board...wonder if the strangeness you speak of exists there as well...I of course could not be objective...thanks for answering my question!

What a replacement .... Austinite Chris Masterson is an absolute marvel on guitar. He's now played something like 12 times with Son Volt since joining the band last February after leaving Jack Ingram's band. He's also played with Hank III, Bare Jr and Wayne Hancock.

This tour is not to be missed. I loved the last time Son Volt rolled into town (October 2005). I'll tell you right now that with the addition of Chris, you'll never talk about Alessandro Volta ever again. Do yourself a favour and go see this band live.

The way I saw it (Jay's look) ... to me anyway, Jay telling himself that this new kid on the block can really play. It was all good. I was right at the front of the stage as usual .... and everything was in place.

Son Volt tonight ..... and tomorrow tickets for Wilco go on sale.

I just learned that Magnolia Electric Co. was touring with Son Volt earlier in the tour. Jason Isbell just recently hooked up as opener.

I'll have photos and more in the coming days.

To be perfectly honest, and I know it was one show, but the last time I saw Jay in Dec. 2005 I thought it was boring as hell because the songs (mostly off Okemah) sounded exactly like the album. It was a landmark achievement in live sound. Granted I love everything Jay Volt does but I expect a little surprise at a live gig.

What the above said. Way to sterile!

Need a wild rock show to keep me into it! Will miss Son Volt in the town of the cow for these reasons.

Still love the cds & will keep buying them. But not going to deal with the huge crowed to watch a man just stand there & not move much.

Seen them a bunch , just can't do it anymore.

Its the sad state of my life that tonight I went to the Elementary School "Talent" show to watch my 3rd grade daughter and her friend dance to "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" and a lot of other performances that you had to be a parent to sit through and then watched School of Rock with my kids instead of venturing out to see Son Volt.

That and the freezing rain and a 35 mile drive.
